Tin toy cars saw their heyday in the 1950s and 1960s, before being
displaced by diecast models in the 1970s. One of the first manufacturers
was Shuco, founded as Sheyer and Co. in 1912. Tin toy cars were
produced in America, South America, Europe, and most notably, Japan.
Many tin cars and trucks could be wound up and would propel themselves,
an early feature.
